About California Native Vote Project (CNVP)

Founded in 2016, the California Native Vote Project (CNVP) is a Native-led, statewide organization advancing justice and self-determination for Native American communities across California. Through year-round organizing, nonpartisan civic engagement, leadership development, policy advocacy, and research, CNVP builds multigenerational political power across tribal and urban Native communities. By strengthening the Native organizing ecosystem and preparing emerging leaders and Native youth to shape policy and public decision-making, CNVP ensures Native voices are not only heard, but are driving change across civic, health, and governance systems. Position Overview

A member of the Communications team, the Digital Organizer serves as a bridge between community organizing and digital storytelling, working closely with CNVP staff, community leaders, and Tribal partners, to amplify and elevate American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) voices across California.

Based in Los Angeles, this position collaborates directly with our Policy Advocacy and Organizing staff to create compelling visual, video, and written content that reflects the lived experiences, leadership, and priorities of American Indian and Alaska Native peoples residing in California. Through culturally grounded storytelling, digital engagement, and community-centered content production, the Digital Organizer helps strengthen Native civic participation, community belonging, narrative change, and movement-building efforts statewide.

This role regularly collects and produces content from community gatherings, advocacy events, leadership and youth development programs, Tribal communities (with permissions and respect of protocols), and activities at local civic centers such as the California State Capitol, translating on-the-ground organizing into meaningful digital stories that inspire action and deepen community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Digital Organizing & Community Engagement
Partner closely with organizing staff to create and implement digital engagement and storytelling strategies that highlight on-the-ground organizing efforts and strengthen trust and Native participation in CNVP activities; humanizing and highlighting our work such as research, organizing, programs, and events.

Create and distribute digital content that promotes voter engagement, leadership development, advocacy initiatives, trainings, community gatherings, and other opportunities for civic engagement.

Support digital pathways for community action, including voter registration, event recruitment, advocacy mobilization, and online engagement opportunities.

Foster meaningful online community engagement by responding to conversations, elevating community voices, and amplifying opportunities for collective action.

Monitor digital conversations, community priorities, and emerging issues impacting Native communities across California; identify opportunities for engagement, rapid response, and narrative amplification.

Uplift community-generated content, partner campaigns, and stories that advance Native self-determination, civic participation, community leadership, and social justice.

Content Creation, Storytelling & Narrative Change

Collaborate directly with CNVP organizers and communications staff to identify, capture, and elevate stories that reflect Native leadership, community resilience, organizing victories, and civic engagement efforts.

Attend select community events, advocacy actions, cultural gatherings, trainings, and organizing activities to document authentic stories, photos, videos, and community perspectives.

Build trusted relationships with organizers, Tribal leaders, youth leaders, and community members to ensure storytelling reflects community priorities, lived experiences, and cultural values.

Document organizing and advocacy efforts throughout the greater Sacramento region and Northern California, including activities within Tribal communities, urban Native communities, and at the California State Capitol.

Develop culturally grounded written, visual graphics, and video content that advances CNVP’s narrative change goals and helps translate complex policy, advocacy, and organizing issues into accessible and engaging stories.

Be proactive. Identify emerging stories, community voices, and rapid-response opportunities that support CNVP’s mission and strengthen public understanding of issues affecting Native communities.

Support community-centered storytelling practices that prioritize consent, cultural respect, accuracy, and authentic representation of American Indian and Alaska Native communities.

Multimedia & Video Production

Develop and execute field-based content plans for select community events, organizing activities, advocacy actions, leadership programs, and legislative engagement opportunities.

Collect high-quality photo and video content in diverse environments; including community gatherings, Tribal lands (with appropriate permissions), cultural events (with respect to cultural protocols), legislative hearings, advocacy days, and statewide convenings.

Produce short-form documentary-style storytelling content that highlights CNVPs work.

Conduct informal interviews and community storytelling conversations that elevate Native voices and experiences.

Create platform-specific video content optimized for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, and emerging digital platforms.

Maintain organized digital asset libraries of photography, video footage, and community storytelling materials.

Transform raw footage into polished, platform-optimized storytelling assets.

Support integration of graphic and video content into broader campaign narratives and mobilization efforts.

Analytics & Reporting

Track and report basic digital performance metrics, including engagement, reach, clicks, and conversions.

Support monthly reporting on digital campaigns and content performance.
